According to the results of the RBC poll, the Horror genre is in third place in the rating of film enthusiasts. But horror fans do not complain about the consequences, because it is because of these emotions that horror has an extensive fan base.
The films that we are talking about evoke slightly different emotions. Laughter and indignation, although according to the declared genre, they should goosebumps and slow down the blood in the veins.
We have compiled a list of the 10 worst horror films so you don’t waste time watching these “nightmare” films.
10. Piranha 3DD | 2012
From the name itself is already getting bad. Perhaps in the 70s the word “piranha” on the poster could frighten someone, but in 2012, when Sinistra and the second Silent Hill hardly came out.
According to the plot, piranha through the gutters and sewers reached the city pools, water parks and reservoirs. Now carnivorous fish not only bloodthirstyly tear people apart, but also penetrate them under the skin, starting to eat from the inside. And if you read it terribly, it looks described just ridiculous.
And the 3D effect is visible only in the chest area of female characters. The piranhas themselves did not cause proper horror, but the scenes with their attacks caused a feeling of disgust among many. Apparently, no one told the creators that fear, and not spasms of nausea, should hamper the horror of the viewer.
9. The Pyramid | 2014
In 2014, the premiere of “Anabel Damnation” thundered, which later gave rise to several sequels and prequels, and in general a movie franchise about a scary doll. In the same year, the Pyramid is released, which fails at the box office.
The characters are flat and equally stubborn: they climb through, they themselves find problems, from which they later die. According to the plot, a group of archaeologists finds the ancient Egyptian pyramid and descends into its catacombs. Intricate turns, dark corridors and narrow forks lead the heroes to a place they cannot get out of.
The audience will not find the mummy screaming on the poster in the film, the creators decided to satisfy the thirst for adrenaline in people with computer graphics of ancient bald cats. In due course, the cat family scared only the main characters of the film, but the spectators “scarecrows” were left indifferent.
8. Dislike | 2016
Not the first year Russian filmmakers have been trying to win the hearts of film enthusiasts with high-quality horror. “Dislike” refers to unsuccessful attempts, yet the film did not cause the audience a sense of fear, but rather a laugh.
According to the plot, 8 famous video bloggers come to a country house to remove joint advertising integration. But it turns out that the house is a trap, and until dawn, none of the favorites of youth will survive. The masked maniac went on a hunt, and the audience will find out who is hiding behind this mask only in the finale itself.
7. The human millipede | 2009
Not to look nervous! Unfortunately, the slogan of the film does not sound like that, but because a huge number of people pat their psyche in the cinema.
In the story, two young friends travel around Europe. According to the law of horror films, girls break down a car in the middle of an empty highway. In search of help, the heroines wander into an abandoned villa. The owner of the villa is a retired surgeon who in the past specialized in operating Siamese twins.
The girls are pumped with drugs, and in the morning they wake up on the operating table. The surgeon is preparing for the experiment: he wants to connect three people by stitching an independent organism from them with a single digestive system.
6. Hidden 3D | 2011
The plot of this horror film is recognizable: an abandoned monastery, experiments on the sick, evil spirits and young adventurers who become objects of revenge for the former mentally ill.
After watching the film, the viewer has a clear feeling that somewhere in narrow directorial circles a book goes around: “How to make a banal and uninteresting horror film”. And the director of "Hidden" as if more than once turned to this book for help. There are simply no other explanations for such banal twists in the plot, predictable “bu-moments”, familiar forest paths and abandoned monasteries ...
5. Bloodrain | 2005
The abstract for the movie “Bloodrain” is like a crumpled brief retelling: there is about the childhood of the main character, and about her parents, and about the antagonist, and about hunters, and about vampirism, and much more ...
The fact is that the film was shot based on the computer game “BloodRayne”, so it was as if they deliberately tried to place the entire game background in the annotation lines.
The plot itself is developing sluggishly, there is no dynamics in the frames, the dialogs are protracted and most often stupidly constructed, and the existing fight scenes are badly delivered. Definitely do not recommend viewing this film.
4. Phobos. Fear Club | 2012
The film is of Russian production, the main triggers of which are focused on the fear of darkness and claustrophobia.
In the story, a group of young and unlike each other guys are locked in a Soviet bunker. At first, the company is not worried about the fact that the doors are slammed: they joke in every possible way, scare each other and have fun in the walls of Phobos.
But soon the heroes realized that cellular communications did not penetrate the walls of the bomb shelter, and the locked ones did not tell anyone about their intention to go to Phobos.
The plot for horror is very good: beat different phobias and show what people are capable of in an attack of uncontrolled fear. But the implementation of the idea let us down. Some actors openly replay, others, not sparing the eardrum of the audience, scream to the ultrasound, while others do not follow the logic or any sequence.
This makes the film more boring every minute, and the desire to someday revise the horror disappears altogether.
3. Apartments 1303 | 2012
Apartment number 1303 has been cursed for a long time. Indeed, in the walls of the apartments, mother and daughter were brutally murdered, and now their souls are taking revenge on each new tenant who has moved in.
The film is very clichéd, it definitely doesn’t bring anything new to the horror genre. The main characters are absolutely illogical, the viewer does not believe them, if only because any normal person, seeing in his room the bloodied ghost of a little girl, would disappear not only from the apartment, but from the city!
And then the main character calmly falls asleep after a visit by otherworldly forces, and she does not plan to move out. What fate awaits such an unfriendly person is probably not worth specifying.
2. House of the Dead | 2003
A film shot on a computer game, and stuffed with the most common stereotypes. The creators decided not to bother, as a result, the audience turned out to be mediocre actors playing poorly registered characters. The film deservedly failed at the box office - it is impossible to watch.
1. Diggers 2016
At one time, the film attracted a large number of viewers to cinemas thanks to the slogan: “Every day more people go down in the subway than go back up ...” But every person who leaves the cinema was not too lazy to write a devastating review or at least leave a negative review for his friends on Diggers. Therefore, every day there were fewer and fewer visitors in cinemas, and as a result, the horror failed at the box office.
In the center of the film is the Moscow metro. The last train flies past the terminal station and takes passengers into the darkness of the tunnels into the dark. Authorities hide information about the missing people, but the friends of the disappeared decide themselves to go in search of.
The plot of the film is interesting. It attracts to the session and fans of horror films and fans of the catacombs of the subway. But the implementation of the idea of monsters in the subway is impossible bad.
