Who in your life has never thought about immortality, the possibility of endlessly living and enjoying the gifts of the Earth? It’s hard to find such people.
Death is frightening, but at the same time it delights - it makes it clear that we are all equal, there are no special people, and whoever you are, she does not choose, but takes everyone.
But is it all so sad? After all, scientists continue their discoveries, medicine does not stand still.
Eternal life is possible or not - we cannot know for sure, but there are some ways thanks to which, quite possibly, a person will forget about the existence of death.
10. Gene therapy
Alzheimer's disease is a disease that occurs in older people. Aging, according to scientists, is a disease, and you can change the “aging genes” to “youth genes,” thereby forgetting about the undesirable changes that old age brings.
Scientists from Harvard conducted an experiment with mice - they introduced the NMN molecule (an organic molecule that helps slow down aging) into their genes, after which the animals stopped aging. Researchers believe that they can create a medicine that can make a person younger.
9. Space travel
Some believe that old age is slower if you are in space, but this is not so. A person’s internal clock does not depend on where he is.
If we talk about space, then, on the contrary, the body in it is aging faster, and time is slowing down. Biological age is measured by telomeres (end sections of chromosomes), and the body is younger if they are longer.
That is, by lengthening the telomeres, you can live longer. There are ways to do this: for example, taking statins (to lower cholesterol), playing sports (it is important to alternate high stress and relaxation). Strength exercises will not help, aerobic sports are best: cycling, running, ice skating, swimming, etc.
8. Virtual reality
Many people believe that we live in the Matrix - a model of a special state of our psyche in which thinking, perception, feelings and reactions are determined by the state itself. That is, we live according to the model.
Quite a few scientists and fanatics of this idea believe that our life is very similar to a simulation. One of the ideas of infinite life using digital media (as a way to load your memory) is considered virtual reality.
The body is dying, but consciousness could continue its life. Using data processing, data transmission networks, you can create a virtual world, and in it life would not differ from that which we are leading now.
7. Cryonics
Already in Europe, the development of cryonics is of great interest to people. The idea has been developed for a long time. The meaning of cryogenic engineering is to freeze the body (and, accordingly, the mind, too) until the scientists find a way to treat diseases that are now not curable (the body sleeps when frozen and all its processes slow down).
There are more and more people who want their bodies frozen. However, such a service is very expensive ... But the ability to “unfreeze” in the future and live forever attracts many.
Even if a person is unfrozen, and he continues to live, how will he perceive the surrounding new reality? After all, everything will be different, and all his loved ones will be dead.
6. Cybernetics
The organs obtained by growing from stem cells are very fragile and will have to be changed again later. It is much more practical to install an organ from reliable materials once.
Durable organs that never age can give people, besides eternal life, tremendous opportunities.
Soon, it will be possible to easily replace parts of the body, limbs (prostheses), if someone needs it. Or you can optionally (for aesthetic reasons) update any part of the body.
Already there is one subculture called biohacking - people can change themselves with the help of implants that change the shape of their hands or glow under the skin.
5. Bodies grown in the laboratory
The cultivation of organs from human stem cells is that they can be replaced by those that have become unusable.
Scientists have so far learned to grow simple organs, such as the liver or skin, but medicine does not stand still, and perhaps very soon thanks to regenerative medicine we will have the opportunity not only to stay young forever, but also to live forever.
Specialists in their field hope that someday people will no longer need an organ transplant - they will be able to renew them with their own stem cells inside their body.
4. Cloning of body parts
Human cloning has not yet been done, but various "parts" of people have already been created - for example, adult stem cells were created from human skin by cloning.
Organ transplant operations save a huge number of people every year, but many people die from a lack of donor organs.
The question is where to get the organs? The only promising way, according to scientists, is to get organs outside a living organism (invitro).
3. Nanotechnology
Medical science has developed a method such as delivering drugs to cancerous tissues in tiny "nanobombs." Small cars are inside the human body - in the blood, or can even become its replacement, is it not surprising? And in case of damage to the body, these "nanobombs" treat a wound.
If a person had an accident and lost a limb, then a new one will grow to replace it. With nanotechnology, it’s not scary to get hit by a car, and you won’t scare anyone with a lightning strike.
Nanorobots in time eliminate the disease by identifying viral bodies. Nanomedicine does not currently exist, but there are nanoprojects that will surely bring results.
2. Memory loading
Emulation (a set of software tools for copying) will soon be quite real, although it resembles a science fiction movie. “Russia 2045” (a social movement founded in 2011, an online community advocating for human development) is the main player in this direction - the organization unites all people who specialize in creating artificial organs, automated systems, etc.
The goal is to translate human loading into reality, to introduce the human brain into a robot device. The difficulty lies in the fact that the brain stores a lot of information in itself, more than the computer can store in itself.
1. The study of telomerase
With age, the human body becomes worse: elasticity is lost, bones weaken, wrinkles appear, etc. The list can be made very large, and from generation to generation people perceive changes as a normal phenomenon.
But one day, things can become different. At the end of the chromosomes, all people have telomerase (a direct path to cell rejuvenation, drugs are already being studied whose actions are aimed at telomerase activity).
In young people, telomerase works fine, but over time it gets damaged. When worn, the enzyme causes aging. If you influence him, then a person could forever remain young. Now scientists are conducting experiments on mice, replacing telomerase with another enzyme.
